Texas Ethics Commission Rejects Mark Shelton’s Gimmick Claim

Oct 26, 2012

FORT WORTH – In a certified letter delivered today, the Texas Ethics Commission (TEC) quickly rejected a bogus complaint filed by politician Mark Shelton, finding his complaint lacked any credible evidence or even enough support to warrant opening a case at all.

The Shelton claims have also been checked by WFAA Channel 8 and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and judged to be false.

“We are not surprised at all and recognized the complaint as a dishonest political stunt from the outset,” Davis Campaign Spokesman Anthony Spangler said. “Mark Shelton must hide a failed record that includes votes to block life-saving cancer screening to hundreds of thousands of women in Texas.”

As part of his dishonest stunt, Shelton sent the Texas Ethics Commission 65 pages of material – filled with allegations but no facts or proof – in an attempt to divert attention from a weak candidate with a failed record.  The TEC rejected the complaint because it lacked enough credibility to even warrant opening an investigation.
