Wendy Davis Campaign Reports Continued Strong, Broad Support; $1.4 Million Raised, With $500,362 Cash-on-Hand
Oct 30, 2012
FORT WORTH, TX – The strong and broad bi-partisan support enjoyed by Wendy Davis is dramatically illustrated by the impressive fundraising report filed by her campaign yesterday. The Wendy Davis Campaign raised $1,407,799 in the 30-day period between Sept. 28 and Oct. 27, alone. Davis’ fundraising success assures that her campaign will continue to be funded at a high level through Election Day, on Nov. 6.
Davis’s fundraising totals are driven by the high number of individual donors contributing to her campaign. During the last 30 days alone, she has received contributions from a total of 852 individuals. And 689 contributions were $250 or less, showing broad-based support from local voters for her re-election efforts.
Shelton’s report shows he has only 115 donors who gave $250 or less and the vast majority of his money came from Austin special interests and PACs. He has scant financial support within Senate District 10.
Notably, Davis has raised $3,650,652 since July 2011.
“We are incredibly grateful to our supporters who know how important this race is to families here in District 10. Their faith in our cause and their support for our campaign will allow me to continue to be their strong voice fighting for good jobs, good schools and the opportunity to succeed that every Texan deserves,” Davis said.
Davis Campaign Spokesman Anthony Spangler said: “Mark Shelton is the voice of the partisan politicians and special interest lobbyists in Austin and it is reflected in his campaign finance report, with nearly his entire campaign being funded by interests outside of Tarrant County. He has failed to earn support locally and relied almost solely on financial support from one extreme interest group in Austin who has aired attacks proven untrue by WFAA Channel 8 and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.”
“We have used our resources to run a grassroots campaign with volunteers and staffers knocking on thousands of doors and making thousands of personal phone calls.
We opened our campaign with a positive message of hope, and we have responded to the dishonesty of our opponent by stating the facts clearly,” Spangler added.
Entering the final days of the campaign, Davis still has more than a half million dollars to continue funding an aggressive Get-Out-The-Vote effort.
